Contemporary Design

Artist Martin Oppel created Bar (Abstraction) for his 2011 solo exhibition Forms of Fiction at The Journal Gallery in Brooklyn. This project reinterprets everyday objects, such as an incense holder and a laptop stand, as geometric abstractions informed by the subjective impressions these objects leave as we use them.

Oppel’s Bar, in brass-plated steel, takes the design axiom “form follows function” to an absurd extreme, with an elegantly skewed structure that appears to be under the influence of the alcohol it serves. Bar was made in five editions. We have edition numbers two, three and five to offer and each comes with a signed certificate.

Additionally, Pamono offers the opportunity to commission a copper plated or stainless steel bar from Oppel. Just inquire with us.
