Homage in Glass

Ritsue Mishima is an outstanding artist and her glass pieces are just so exquisite in form. And the way she allows for imperfections, such as bubbles, to be captured in the glass make her pieces all the more perfect. Excitingly, Hedge Gallery in San Francisco have a selection of her pieces in their newly opened show, Ritsue Mishima: An Homage to In Grimani.

An Homage to In Grimani pays tribute to the Japan-born Venice-based glass designer and sculptor’s seminal exhibition that took place at the museum of palazzo grimani during the 55th venice biennale. For the biennale exhibition, Mishima created over 26 new pieces specifically designed to be displayed in the palazzo's piano nobile, inspired by the palazzo’s 16th century architecture and decoration. Hedge are showing a selection of these pieces so this is a great opportunity to check them out up close.
