Sand and Clay and Blanks in Between

One of the highlights of the past week was our visit to the neighboring presentations Sand and Clay, put on by 1882, and Blanks In Between, a small group show of some of our favorite RCA graduates.

Tatsuo Mukai of Study O Portable gave us a guided tour through the Blanks In Between exhibit. We loved his Hammer Shapes.

Gemma Holt's delightful piece Blanks on Blanks was a clever twist on the traditional paper weight.

And lastly Peter Marigold's colorful Roughed Out Soldiers caught our eye. They are moulded in silicon rubber and cast into plastic. The mould is then cut away gradually and recast sequentially.

In the adjacent space, Emily Johnson of 1882 showed us her company's latest collection and told us about some of the exciting collaborations to come. 1882 continues to marry traditional ceramic techniques with modern ideas and talents.
