18th Century Regency Walnut Marquetry Chest of Drawers

Convenient museum, Regency period inlaid with walnut and pear tree leaves. Its generously curved front opens with three drawers, on three rows separated by wide horizontal dark brass channels.
Dimensions: H79 x D60 x L123cm.

The rounded uprights are adorned with triple vertical grooves, also dark brass, matching the channels.

The base is straight from the front and has symmetrical steps on each side.
A very beautiful ornamentation of finely chiselled bronzes, such as falling feet, lock entries and drooping wrists, ornate case and drawers.

The feet falls rest on an elegant shell wrapped by acanthus leaves.
The lock entries are only in them in the form of a decorative cartouche to the valets wrapped with acanthus leaves and centered the lock cat.

The wrists are falling to decorate the valets, finely decorated with gadroons, pearls and foliage that complete the decoration.
The set is topped with a marble leaf marrying the frame in Breche Violette where runs around the periphery a beak of corbin enhanced by a wide throat reminiscent; channels and grooves.

One finds in this elegant chest of drawers, all the magnificent classical ornaments so dear to the Louis-quatorzian decorative arts where symmetry and balance are always cardinal virtues but heightened by the spicy charm of the Regency period under the influence of Duke Philippe d'Orléans.

Balance, elegance and quality are the most appropriate terms for this elegant chest of drawers from the first decades of the Age of Enlightenment.
