About This Piece

Vintage Design

An impressive Empire style chandelier, consisting of a blue, painted sphere with voluminous gilded stars, suspended on massive chains from an upper rosette, richly decorated with palmettes and cone clusters. The central part of the lamp consists of 9 (nine) horns, made in the shape of swans and located in a circle in the central part of the sphere. Electrified. Dimensions: 130x66x66 cm. A similar Russian gilded bronze chandelier of spherical design was sold at Christies, Paris, April 14, 2015, Le Goût Français - Art decoratifs du XVIIe sisècle au XIXe siècle, lot 179 Literature: Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Proschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Klinkhardt et Biermann, Munich , 1986, p. 359, table 5.11.4.
