Ancient engraving with sepia-coloured printed burin using the strong water dyed water technique made by Filippo Bigioli of San Severino Marche in the first half of the 19th century: 30th August Santa Rosa di Lima Filippo Bigioli painter and sketch artist born in San Severino Marche on 4th June 1798 and died in Rome on 17th January 1878. A pupil of his father Venanzo Bigioli (1777-1854) he studied at the academy of San Luca in Wicar. He collaborated in the restoration of the frescoes in the loggias at the Vatican and drew many illustrations for the works concerning the History of the Saints and painted a farewell of Pope Pius IX to King Ferdinand. (Bibliography reported in the encyclopedia Benezit Vol. 31) The incisione in question is taken from the collection ''IL PERFETTO LEGGENDARIO VITE DE SANTI PER CIASCUNNO GIORNO DELL'ANNO'' published in files in Rome between 1839 and 1846 by Romualdo Gentilucci Publisher and proponent of works of Fine Arts active in Rome in the mid-nineteenth century, and contains a total of 366 ancient engravings with images of the Saints drawn by Filippo Bigioli on commission of the Pope, born in Cingoli (Mc), Francesco Saverio Castiglioni, or PAPA PIO VIII (who became Pope in 1829). Measures of the sheet cm 19,7 x 26,2 approx. Measures incision cm 13 x 17,8 approx.
