About This Piece

Vintage Design

An elegant pair of late Victorian to early Edwardian mahogany bedroom or side chairs, circa 1890–1910.

Each chair features a finely carved foliate and geometric back splat, turned front legs, and original brass castors. The design reflects both late Victorian and Arts & Crafts Gothic influence, with crisply carved naturalistic motifs and strong architectural lines.

The chairs are upholstered in a later crimson chenille damask fabric with raised floral and foliate scrolls, finished with gold trim. The low seat height makes them especially suitable as slipper or dressing chairs, perfect for bedrooms, boudoirs, or as statement occasional seating.

These chairs retain excellent colour and patina to the mahogany and are structurally sound, with the upholstery in serviceable condition.
