Vintage Design

A late-19th-century French Sèvres-style porcelain and gilt-bronze inkwell set, exquisitely hand-painted with romantic cherubs and floral bouquets on a vivid turquoise ground enriched with raised gilding.

The composition is both decorative and functional, the lidded urn mounted to a circular plateau supported by three bronze paw feet.

This desk piece captures the opulent aesthetic of the French Belle Époque period, recalling the artistry of the Sèvres manufactory and Parisian ateliers that supplied luxury objects to the elite of the 19th century. The turquoise and gold palette remains striking, complemented by the gentle patina of the original gilt bronze mounts.

The urn features twin scroll handles and a domed cover surmounted by a finely cast bust of a classical maiden. Each porcelain panel displays delicately painted putti framed by garlands of flowers and highlighted with intricate gilt detailing.

The surrounding dish continues the same lavish decoration, with alternating panels of floral bouquets and gilt foliate scrollwork.
