Antique Louis XV Style Precious Wood Marquetry & Gilded Bronze Flat Desk

A sublime piece of prestige, a magnificent flat desk, Louis XV style, in marquetry of precious wood decorated with flowers. 
Very beautiful work attributed to a master cabinetmaker of faubourg.

Its tray reveals an exceptional work of marquetry or rosewood, rosewood, and native wood restores a magnificent central floral decoration animated on the belt of framings foliated with acanthus.

It is surrounded by gilded bronze molding.
Its belt is arranged with a drawer closing with a key.

Its four curved legs are enriched with angle irons at the top connected by curved crosspieces and resting on lion claw hooves.

Period: End of the 19th century.

Ornaments of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes.
Wood and varnish were entirely restored.
 
The flat desk appears at the Regency period. It succeeds the Louis XIV desk by Boulle and the Louis XIII desks with chests. 

The flat desk is the typical office of representation. 

In general, it is a piece of furniture of cabinet making, that is to say, executed by master cabinet makers or workshops authorized by the royal privileges to work the wood in veneer or marquetry. 

It is rarely made of solid wood by carpenters. This piece of furniture, originally designed for men, reached its peak during the Louis XV period and began to be made for women. It then became the small boudoir writing table.
