Antique Mongolian Painted Bench About This Piece Vintage Design This rare, unique long bench originates from Inner Mongolia in the far north of China, circa 1900. An unusual find as antique furniture from this area has unfortunately not survived owing to China's turbulent recent history and also because not much was made to start with in an area traditionally inhabited by nomadic people. It is made from pine wood and is beautifully decorated on the spandrels with paintings of flowers and trees - in subtle blues, greens and yellows being a classic palette of colours used in Mongolian furniture. A wonderful additional to a hallway, dining area or reception room or this piece would work well at the end of a bed.
