Antique Painted Sideboard, 1920s About This Piece Vintage Design This delightful cabinet dates back to around 1920 and is from the Shanxi province, located in central China and remains in its original condition with the exception to the three fixed panels at the front that have been converted into doors. It would have been made to store flour or grain in originally but today makes a lovely small sideboard and storage unit. The original paintings on the front of the cabinet have severely worn and faded over the years, leaving softer tones of greens, pinks and white which add character and charm. The original black lacquer on the surrounding frame has also faded to reveal the pine wood beneath leaving a dark brown and mottled black finish. A lovely cabinet that would look great in a dining area or reception room.
