About This Piece

Pair of sculptures representing geishas dressed in gold and red and blue kimonos. One naked hair is hair dressed with a bun and the second one has a veil covering her hair. Sculptures made in sandstone with polychromatic enamels on glaze and gilt (iro-e kinsa), well known as the type of White Satsuma. Red mark under each sculpture, in Japanese characters. Japanese work realized circa 1900.
