Vintage Design

Elegant Art Deco bronze vide-poche by Max Le Verrier, titled “Le secret du bonheur” and featuring the timeless motif of the Three Wise Monkeys. The rectangular tray presents the classic figures—see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil—modeled in relief against a richly textured ground with verdigris patina. Framed with a rope-twist border and flanked by stylized characters, the piece embodies Le Verrier’s refined balance of symbolism and decorative design.

The reverse is inscribed and signed “Le secret du bonheur / M. Le Verrier / BRONZE,” confirming workshop production in France. Known for his sculptural trays and objets de luxe, Le Verrier (1891–1973) was a central figure of the Parisian Art Deco movement, celebrated for his elegant modeling and distinctive patinas.
