Biedermeier casket box, ebonized, inlays, cherry, South Germany, circa 1840. Beautiful Late-Biedermeier casket box. Lid veneered in ebonized plum on a solid cherry tree. Maple and colored fruitwood inlays of flowers. Visible dovetails on the corners. Round ebonized key plate. Shellac hand polished.
