Hand-knotted in a special blend of Ghazni wool, this 4x6 rug from the custom-classics Burano Collection by Rug&Kilim is inspired by mid-19th-century antique Caucasian rug design—particularly one of Kuba provenance with special large-scale floral patterns and minimalist geometric interpretations of pictorial designs. On the Design: Navy blue underscores large-scale floral patterns in the field, enjoying the addition of rich red, gold, and other light hues. The borders surrounded are a fencepost meander and a floral scroll in variations of the same hues. Keen eyes will further note the minimalist geometric interpretations of pictorial designs in the field, which admirers of the craft will know as tribal illustrations of animals—with those here most closely resembling dogs, horses, and birds. Admirers of the craft will further appreciate an especially soft, comfortable texture and beauty inherent to the Ghazni wool that underscores this piece.
