About This Piece

Vintage Design

Glazed ceramic bowl produced by the Les Archanges workshop in Vallauris around 1960.

Hand-modeled, it features a slightly asymmetrical, free-form shape and a stylized floral decoration, composed of a gray stem and an orange and yellow glazed corolla. The crackled glaze, typical of Vallauris' artisanal production at this time, lends the piece a poetic and tactile quality. Each Les Archanges bowl reveals this blend of graphic modernity and the spontaneous ceramic gesture characteristic of the Vallauris school of the 1950s and 60s.
