One of a kind Chinese furniture “Ningbo Cabinet”, carved, lacquered and gilded wood, ff. 19th century - China
Large cabinet or sideboard from the late 19th century, original from the city of Ningbo, China. Made of lacquered, carved and gilded wood. The color red is related in this culture to the aristocratic and imperial class. Rectangular body, with slightly rounded upper corners and resting on four legs with a small skirt. In the central part it has four registers and, on each side, a large door with a shelf inside (the original shelf on the left side is missing, but it could be replaced without problems). The spatial distribution of the interior is splendid, with high storage capacity. Throughout the front there are panels carved in high relief that represent palace scenes, plant and animal elements, gilded with gold leaf. The two doors are closed by bronze padlocks, richly ornamented with dragons and Chinese calligraphy. The two padlocks and their respective keys are preserved. Highly decorative and very refined unique piece.
