Claudio Parmiggiani (Luzzara, 1943) is an Italian multidisciplinary artist, best known for his imprints on paper and boards, created using powder, smoke, fire, soot, and ash. Working in collage, sculpture, installation, and photography, the artist explores new ways of creating and manipulating images, shade, movement and objects. Over the past 40 years, the artist has been preoccupied with capturing the impressions of objects through dust, soot and smoke. His Delocazione series, inspired by the dust silhouettes of objects left leaning against a wall, leave subtle traces of a history of use.
