This incredibly stylish solid teak coffee table, model FD-516, was designed in 1956 by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for France & Søn, Denmark.
As so typical with Danish design, there are numerous refined details, such as the edges of the coffee table are slightly curved, the legs gently taper and the cane weave magazine shelf appears to float - suspended underneath by brass supporting rods.
Complete with two France & Son badges to the underside and also stamped ‘Made in Denmark’. Lovely condition, with light traces of use to the tabletop, whilst the woven cane is in perfect condition. There is evidence underneath of a couple of drill holes beside one of the legs, however there appears to be no reason for this as all the legs and brass supports are original! (see last image).
