Atelier Courbet

Atelier Courbet is a New York-based gallery with its adjacent shop housed in the Brewster Carriage House, a 19th-century landmark located at the intersection of the city’s NoLita and SoHo neighborhoods. Founded in 2013 by Melanie Courbet, the gallery specializes in objects, furniture, and textiles that marry contemporary design with traditional techniques, celebrating, above all, master craftsmanship and a global cultural heritage.

The collection includes one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces by the likes of Parisian master craftsmen Domeau & Pérès; Scandinavian-British glassmaker Hanne Enemark; Malian artist and textile designer Aboubakar Fofana; and the centuries-old, Kyoto-based Hosoo textile company. In addition to its larger collection, Atelier Courbet’s showroom hosts exhibition programs with the craftsmen themselves that share the history of the workshops, the cultural heritage that they carry on, and the making processes.
