With over twenty years experience, Cristina Grajales has established herself as an expert tastemaker in both contemporary and 20th-century design. Grajales served as director of 1950 Gallery in New York City from 1990 through 2000. Under Grajales’s tenure, 1950 Gallery developed into a premiere resource for European mid-century furniture, lighting, and design objects.
Grajales established her eponymous gallery in 2001, specializing in contemporary works that blur the boundaries between art and design, as well as dealing in masterpieces of the 20th century. The talents represented by Cristina Grajales Gallery – including Christophe Côme, Hechizoo Textiles, Sam Baron, and Sebastian Errazuriz – work across the full design spectrum, from furniture and lighting, to ceramics, metalwork, and textiles. The gallery maintains a full program of exhibitions and participates in international art and design fairs around the world
In 2001, Grajales launched the ongoing lecture series Dialogues with Design Legends at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, and she is also a frequent guest lecturer, panelist, and contributor to various publications.
