Flat Six was founded in October 2013 by Janosch Roschewitz originally under the name of “Stadtraum Interiors”. It was previously located on the attic floor of an established antique store and workshop in Ahrensburg, situated on a 200 m2 estate. As the son of an antique dealer himself, Janosch has been surrounded by vintage furniture almost all his life. From an early age he visited various international fairs which fueled his affinity with vintage furniture and helped him gain extensive knowledge on the subject. After finishing school and completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Freiburg, he returned back home to Ahrensburg to continue trading antiques, opening his own shop and workspace. The boutique specialized in industrial objects complemented by some classic vintage design pieces. Aside from restoration and sales, Flat Six developed a second area of expertise: interior design. All restoration and carpentry work is done in the shared joinery located on the premises. Flat six is lucky to be able to profit from the 25 years of experience the antique workshop has to offer. In mid 2015 flat six renovated a space on the estate and built a small metal and lamp workshop. The shop was officially opened at the Estate Festival in October 2015 and the showroom features unique pieces from various eras. From ROWAC cupboards to Biedermeier commodes, industrial ceiling lights to mahogany tables and antique paintings to medicine cabinets from the 1940s.
