Paris Berbère

Paris Berbère presents vintage and contemporary Moroccan Berber rugs, carefully selected from various suppliers: families and individuals, cooperatives, or merchants. All carpets are handmade by Berber women using ancestral techniques handed down from generation to generation. Mainly from mountainous areas, Berber carpets are differentiated according to their region of origin. The woven or knotted wool carpets feature asymmetrical patterns in minimal compositions. The plain forms are based on the Berber symbolism, and carry metaphorical anecdotes of life and universal emotions. From the 1930s to the 1960s, modernists such as Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, Arne Jacobsen or Paul Klee were also interested in these items, and contributed to their popularity around the world. Berber carpets have a privileged place in contemporary interiors up until today.
