Roberta Licini

Biella, Italy

Roberta Licini was born in Rome, Italy in 1960. She studied fashion design at the Accademia di Costume e di Moda in Rome from 1980 to 1984. She opened her eponymous knitwear design studio in 2010 in Milan, focusing on independent fashion collections as well as collaborations with noted brands such as Fendi, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Ballantyne. In 2012, the studio moved to Biella, between Milan and Turin, and Licini launched a home collection as well, producing an exclusive range of luxe blankets, pillows, rugs, and tableware.

Licini is known for bold, geometric designs—many reinterpreting classical concepts—expertly applied to superfine Italian cottons, cashmeres, and carded wools. She produces both readymade and customizable pieces that adapt to consumers’ preferred materials, colors, and sizes. For Licini, the goal is to achieve a sense of beauty and a softness that is “harmonious, and linked to a universal language.”
