Handcrafted from Homestone, this sculptural object can be used as a side table or a stool. Diabase is a subvolcanic rock, famous for its extremely solid and durable qualities. British explorers, who named it “Homestone”, discovered the Georgian Diabase in Khazbegi mountainous region. Georgian Diabase is unique for its distinct green color and golden veins. Homestone is widely used in jewelry. Like all natural rocks, the Homestone carries healing energies. Legend has it, that Homestone rock brings luck and success to the people who own it. ''Rooms'' - Tbilisi-based Interior and Product Design studio was founded by Nata Janberidze and Keti Toloraia in 2007. Both Nata and Keti were born in Tbilisi, Georgia in the spring of 1981. They met and became friends while studying Interior Design at Tbilisi Academy of Arts, soon after graduating the Rooms studio was born. Rooms focuses on hospitality and retail design, residential projects as well as on creating furniture design, lighting, and accessories. Now Rooms represents a dynamic and on growing studio / showroom working on interior and product design on both local and international stages. The Duo continues to explore and experiment with new techniques and unique materials, pushing the boundaries of limited edition handcrafted furniture design driven by a love of simplicity, combining the rough with the refined and intuitive forms. Their design reflect their attitude, to capture the simple bliss of life. Simplicity and the clear paths of life bring us to the solid state of mind. The influence of soviet childhood and having to live through different eras and tremendous change in a country that is a mix of Asian and European cultures can be seen as a great impact on Keti and Nata's ideas and products as well. Rooms has been featured in multiple high-end publications, including The New York Times, Elle Décor, Yatzer, Wallpaper, AD.

About the Creator

Rooms

Nata Janberidze and Keti Toloraia, the designers and cofounders of Rooms, were both born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1981. They met and became friends while studying Design at Tbilisi Academy of Arts. The pair graduated in 2003, and began collaborating on interior and product design projects that same year. Rooms was officially founded in 2007.

Rooms is based in Tbilisi. The studio focuses on interior and product design projects on the local and international stage—from hotels, restaurants, and residential projects to furniture, lighting, and accessories. Following a successful collaboration with the brand, Moooi included Rooms’ Position Lamp in its 2011 catalogue. The studio has also exhibited widely, including the 2013 Ventura Lambrate, presentations at Mint Gallery during London Design Festival 2011 and 2012, and in 100% Design London 2009. The design duo asserts that the mixture of Asian and European cultures that make up the Georgian identity is a major influence on their work.
