THE WEEK OF LOVE

Fabulous complete series of the "Week of Love". Large and delicate French lithographs from 1837 depicting the days of the week in a romantic key together with their summary table. Finely watercolored from the period and placed in antique octagonal cream lacquered frames with a refined gold border.

Original lithographs with sepia background, finely watercolored by vintage hand.

Author: Eugène Charles François Guérard, French painter, lithographer and illustrator, born on 6 July 1821 in Nancy and died there on 6 July 1865. Pupil of Paul Delaroche at the School of Fine Arts in Paris from 1838 to 1843, he exhibited at the Salon in 1842, 1848 and 1842. Known for his detailed and refined work, he collaborated with several publications and has produced illustrations of historical subjects, landscapes and genre scenes.

The plates are lithographed by several authors: Guérard himself, Charpentier and Jamie

Published by Goupil & Cie, it was one of the most important French publishing houses of the 19th century, specializing in the production and marketing of artistic prints. Founded in Paris in 1827 by Adolphe Goupil, the company stood out for the quality of its engravings and the international dissemination of reproduced works of art, often in collaboration with famous artists.
Over the years, Goupil & Cie, a point of reference in the art market, with branches in London, Berlin, Vienna, New York and other cities.
