About This Piece

Vintage Design

Original painted food cabinet from the 1720s of Spanish origin, grey. Food cabinets were used to store food and protect it from pests in a time when modern refrigerators did not exist. These cupboards were often placed in the kitchen or dining room and had ventilation openings or wire mesh that ensured fresh air around the food items. This cabinet is a good example of the storage furniture that was common in the 18th century and still retains its original paint and craftsmanship. Dimensions: H: 107.5 cm W: 128 cm D: 63.5 cm.
