Super-hip, Belgium designer Michaël Verheyden is fast creating a name for himself in the world of contemporary design with his unique ability to combine the sacred and the everyday.
Hand-carved from smooth, veined marble with an optional calf-skin leather lid, Fruitte Black Marble exemplifies Verheyden’s signature aesthetic, combining elemental forms and rich materials to make functional objects with a sublime yet understated beauty.
Trained as an industrial designer, after a stint as a runway model for Raf Simons, Verheyden built a successful career as a handbag designer. But finding it hard to decorate his new home to his taste, he recently turned his talents to homewares. The result is an exquisite collection of handcrafted objects with cool minimal lines using the finest raw materials.
