About This Piece

Vintage Design

Heinz Lilienthal coffee table from the 1970s, featuring an impressive 30 mm thick cast glass top resting on an architectural wooden base. The substantial square top is defined by its richly textured surface and trapped air bubbles, giving the glass an almost fluid appearance while beautifully capturing and reflecting light. The dark stained wooden base is composed of a rhythmic arrangement of vertical elements that creates a different visual effect from every angle. The combination of heavy glass and the graphic base results in a striking balance between transparency and mass. A distinctive design that functions equally well as a coffee table or as a standalone statement piece, characteristic of Heinz Lilienthal’s experimental design language of the period.
