This Elchinger vase is perfectly in formal research of midcentury designers. The forms are released, detach from any academic or historical references. This pretty handkerchief vase has a very soft and rounded shape, free and sculptural. The two-tone treatment, enamelling matt / gloss on the internal and external sides of the vase, reinforce the idea of scrolls and dynamic form, turning a common object modernist sculpture!

Freeform and bicolor, the vase is in very good condition, it is signed in pen on reverse.

''Ceramics Elchinger'' is a family business based in Soufflenheim Alsace in 1834. Since then, successive generations and offer a production as varied and avant-garde. Elchinger Leon (1871-1942) mark the spirits by artistic sandstone productions and beautiful pottery Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the colors and the brightness beautiful. Less known that Chambost, Ruelland Jouve Capron and Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975) is one of the great ceramicists mid century.
