We are delighted to offer for sale this rather monumental, antique Gothic Revival, hand carved English oak open library bookcase with chest of drawer’s base This piece is a whopper, its 8’7 feet tall! Ideally suited for a Victorian town house with high ceilings or hallway with open top. Made in the Gothic Revival style, it's very Pugin, the carving is expertly crafted and looks sublime from every angle. This piece is all original timber with no later additions or repairs, not bad for something 160-180 years old. We have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, it will have genuine age and use related patina marks here and there but it all adds to the charm and charisma of the piece. Dimensions Height:- 265.5cm Width:- 131.5cm Depth:- 38cm. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
