This beige, red and black, industrial storage cabinet with one drawer and two storage compartments, was made by Strafor in the late 60's to early 70's.
~ The body of the piece features its original, creamy beige color, and showcases a bright red, top drawer, designed with a row of slats at both the front and back of its interior (see photos.) It looks as though at some point, there were once dividers that could have been used, to place certain objects inside, based on width of the space. The drawer measures at W: 72 cm x D: 33 cm x H: 13 cm. It has a chrome-colored pull handle and slides open and closed with no problem. There is a lock on the drawer, but no key is present. There is a small gap at the top of the drawer when closed, that appears to be normal, based on how it was designed
(see photos.)
~ Underneath the drawer, there is a storage space that is divided into two sections by a black shelf, that offer ample storage space, each one measuring at W: 76 cm x D: 38 cm. The space between the top of the shelf to just under the drawer, is H: 26 cm. The space between the beige-colored, bottom shelf of the piece, and the bottom of the upper shelf, is also H: 26 cm. The shelf itself, can be adjusted by unscrewing the screws that it rests upon, if one so desires (see photos.)
~ Also interesting, is that each shelf has 6 holes that are parallel to one another: 3 in the front, and 3 in the back. It looks as though at one time, there might have been thin, metal bars inserted into place, to create space designed in which to place files, folders or books.
~ On both side panels of the piece, there are small black rubber pads, 2 at the top near the corners, and 2 at the bottom, near the corners. On the left side panel (facing the front), one of the pads is missing at the left rear corner at the bottom (see photo.)
~ This piece has an attribution mark such as a manufacturer’s label, a certificate of authenticity, or a production mark (see photo.)
Piece remains in overall good, original, vintage condition, with normal signs, marks and traces of age, previous use and wear, commensurate with time, on top, side panels, on and inside the drawer, shelf space and back (see photos), but nothing that takes away from its cool look. It has maintained a nice, original patina of time (see photos) and has only been gently cleaned, with respect to its original patina of time.
A sturdy and solid piece with a nice storage capacity, that will integrate very well in any given industrial space with other vintage décor.
