An Italian modern Empire Revival bar-credenza made by La Permanente group of Cantu and exhibited in their annual fine furniture exhibition in 1965. It was considered one of the most beautiful vitrines of the exhibition. It was purchased directly from the exhibition by a family in Lake Como for their villa on the lake, where it remained until one year ago. It is crafted from birch and burled walnut. It demonstrates an Empire Revival style. The front is composed of 4 cabinet doors. Two of the doors are finished in burled walnut and the center 2 doors are crafted in transparent glass etched with classical scenes. The two glass doors are framed by etched venetian mirrors and two corinthian columns laterally. The superior margin is bordered with a neoclassical frieze hand carved in a floral theme. The central vitrine is lined with mirror and lighted.This amazing cabinet is an incredible example of the finest mid-century Italian craftsmanship.
