This bust of Suzon is Rodin's tribute to his teacher Carrier-Belleuse and adopts the latter's fashionable style and graceful manner of bringing out feminine beauty. At the time of its conception, this bust of Suzon was a response to Rodin's financial needs (he sold the rights of production for some of his works to the Compagnie de Bronzes in Brussels during his exile), however it nevertheless remains a refined example of the artist's polished style at the beginning of his career
