About This Piece

Vintage Design

A monumental ceramic table lamp decorated with hand applied butterflies and flowers executed upon a background in sgraffito technique. It was manufactured at Alms Keramik in Gothenburg Sweden around 1960 and it was most certainly decorated by the modernist artist Marian Zawadsky who signed her designs with a capital M as on this piece. Along with a few other artists Marian was recruited with a handful of decoraters from Tilgman's keramik. Hence the resemblance between alms and Tilgman's. Originally these large ceramic table lights were used as floor lamps mounted with a similar sized conical shade. Please notice that the shade is not included. Please personalize with your own pick.
