Vintage Design

Large ceramic vase made at the Dieulefit workshop by Jacques Pouchain, France, circa 1960.
This vase has a slender cylindrical shape, accentuated by a vertical engraved decoration of stylized plant motifs. The dark pattern, rendered in relief and incision, contrasts with a nuanced gray background with a slightly granular texture, characteristic of Dieulefit stoneware. The overall effect is a restrained graphic composition and a strong sculptural presence.

This piece is representative of Jacques Pouchain's work and the post-war revival of French ceramics. The balanced proportions, the precision of the decoration, and the mastery of the material effects demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship.
