This large vase is a production of the 40s, designed by Fernand Elchinger. In an Art Deco spirit, it surprises us by its timeless, classic and sober aspect. Its oblong shape is highlighted by a circular groove on the bottom, which brings nuance in the emerald green enamel of the ceramic.

The vase is a late Art Deco production by Fernand Elchinger. There are two chips on the neck. It bears a stamp in hollow and is numbered on the bottom.

19cm diameter, 28cm high.

"Céramiques Elchinger" is a family business established in Soufflenheim in Alsace in 1834. Since that time, the generations succeed one another and offer a production as varied as avant-garde. Léon Elchinger (1871-1942) made his mark with artistic stoneware and magnificent Art Nouveau and Art Deco pottery, with magnificent colors and brilliance. Less known than Chambost, Ruelland, Jouve and Capron, Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975) will be one of the great mid-century ceramists. We are fans of his free form productions, "handkerchief" vases and especially the play of contrasts between the deep blacks and the bright yellows, reds or greens!
