Tall Vintage Swedish Scandinavian Mid-century Modern Table Lamp in Dark Wenge Wood with Textile Shade by Göta Trägårdh, 1960s

A striking and sculptural Scandinavian Modern table lamp from Sweden, produced in the 1960s. The lamp features a beautifully crafted cylindrical base in richly grained wenge wood, showcasing a deep, warm brown tone with pronounced natural patterning. The solid construction and clean proportions give the piece a strong architectural presence, reminiscent of Danish Modern design principles.

The lamp is paired with a vintage textile shade designed by renowned Swedish artist Göta Trägårdh (1904-1984), model “Bostella”. The shade features an organic circular motif in layered green tones, creating a vibrant yet balanced contrast to the dark wooden base, reminding of an actual tree. While the shade is a period-appropriate vintage piece that complements the base exceptionally well and enhances its decorative appeal, we have also added a photo of the lamp with a generic shade for reference (the latter is not included).

The base measures 55 cm in height with a diameter of 14.5 cm, giving it a substantial and stable presence. with the included shade mounted, the total height of the lamp is approximately 100 cm, making it a statement piece suitable for both floor-level placement (such as on a low table or pedestal) and larger interior settings. The shade itself has a generous diameter of 35.5 cm, contributing to the lamp’s bold visual impact.

The lamp has been rewired and fitted with updated electrical components, and is in full working condition. It remains in excellent vintage condition, with only light wear consistent with age and use, as well as a natural patina to the wood.

This is a highly decorative and versatile piece that works equally well as a functional light source and as a sculptural interior object. Its combination of material quality, scale, and textile design makes it particularly suitable for Scandinavian, mid-century, or modern interiors seeking warmth and character.

The lamp is completely rewired for a 110-240 Volt electricity grid suitable for worldwide use. The Europlug is easy to use with adapter in GB, USA and similar systems, or to change to the local variant. Light bulb fitting: The common: E27 Medium Edison Screw (ES) (fits E26 equally well). The lamp is prepared with UNO shade fitting (threaded rings).
