ABOUT THE ARTIST
DOMINGO CRIADO (1935, Tudela de Duero- 2007, Valladolid)
He was a Valladolid man belonging to the well-known Grupo Simancas. This group was born from the regular meetings of a group of friends from the same city that, in the end, was a group of friends who painted to widen Castile in the days of residual Francoism and that hopeful transition that ended up burying the most bold up to European and foreign terms.
From his pictorial expression he manages to illuminate the most inhospitable corners of the soul. The exquisite mastery of colors stands out in his work, often interpreted as a creative action of intensity and strength. "When Criado talked about painting, one knew that he was dealing with a true creator because then everything seemed new and conveyed an endearing and luminous emotion."
Between 1962 and 1973 he spent long periods in France, Italy and Sweden, where he related to different artistic currents. He has shown his work in numerous individual exhibitions -from 1966 to 1976 in Valladolid and has participated in several collectives, many of them with the rest of the members of what was called the "Simancas group"l.
