Vintage Design

This large sideboard is designed by Koloman Moser. It is the third version of design of 1900. The sideboard is a part of the dinner set which included large and small sideboards, a long-case clock, a dining table and six chairs.
The famous Viennese furniture firm August Ungethüm manufactured such sets between 1902 – 1906. In the version of Ungethüm the inlaid “fishzug” ornament was replaced by flat-carved berry ornament developed by the designer for the magazine Ver Sacrum (IV,1901, p.296).
An archival photograph of the object dated by 1904 is held in the archive of MAK (Museum für angewandte Kunst, Vienna (August Ungethüm, Vol. I, No. 39). This object is very rare and of museum quality.
