Vintage Design

Light Blue Coat Stand by Ferdinando Meccani for Meccani Arredamenti, 1976.
Coat stand in open-pore light blue painted oak with a red lacquered edge, composed of three shaped elements measuring approximately 24 x 152 cm in height, which can be folded into various positions thanks to cylindrical hinges.
The coat stand can be configured in multiple ways, in addition to the classic star-shaped configuration with three panels.
The coat stand was born from an idea by Ferdinando Meccani in 1976 while playing with his 9-year-old son and cutting out scrapbook pages like an accordion. from a children's game, he invented a flexible household object with infinite possibilities for shapes, easily placed in any decor and foldable on top of one another; therefore, easily transportable.
The prototype was created in the 1970s.
This coat hanger, bearing the Meccani company logo in copper and the designer's signature dated 1987, is a prototype that was never put into production.
The product is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and Originality from the Meccani Archives.
