Exquisite 19th Century Louis Philippe Mirror in Gold Gilt, showcasing a captivating ornate cartouche adorned with intricate foliage and a small bird. France, circa 1860 - 1880s. This stunning antique French mirror boasts the characteristic rounded upper corners that define the Louis Philippe style. The mirror frame remains robust in structure, and the original antique mirror plate is intact within. The mirror plate features a few small foxed patches and one larger area in the upper right corner. This larger patch does not detract from the overall appearance or affect visibility when using the mirror. The mirror has its original wooden back cladding. The original gilt finish of the frame is nicely worn, giving it great character. The red bole intentionally shines through the gilding, enhancing the mirror's design and giving it a beautifully warm glow. While minor nicks, chips, and cracks consistent with its age can be observed upon close inspection, they contribute to the mirror's authentic character. In general this is a magnificent piece!
