About This Piece

Vintage Design

A very elegant French Louis XV style commode, signed “Marquant,” featuring three large drawers (with keys) in a curved front.

This piece is captivating thanks to the quality of its chevron marquetry, its delicate floral inlays, and its rich Rococo-style bronze mounts.

The top is crowned with a superb marble slab in shades of beige and honey, perfectly complementing the warm tones of the veneer. The sides are also entirely crafted in marquetry, demonstrating meticulous and decorative workmanship down to the smallest detail.

The flowing silhouette, bronze handles, and decorative feet lend it considerable elegance and presence. A truly beautiful decorative piece, ideal for a classic, country chic, or eclectic interior.

The “Marquant” signature is visible on the wood above the commode, beneath the marble top.

Very good overall condition with a beautiful patina. Very few signs of age, but consistent with its age and use. Functional drawers with their keys and marble top in very good condition.
