Louis XV Table Lamps from Royal Delft, 1879, Set of 2

Meet Leon & Louis! Introducing a rare find—a one-of-a-kind set of lovingly handcrafted lamps from a stunning pair of antique Louis XV model vases by Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) hand-painted by the renowned Dutch artist, Leon Senf in 1879.

Leon Senf was a master painter, and his exceptional skill and attention to detail are evident in these vases. Senf's work is highly regarded by collectors of Delftware and is represented in many museum collections. His pieces are also prized for their historical significance, as they provide a window into the world of Dutch ceramics during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Based on historical models, these vases have traditional baluster shapes, scrolling C-curve rocaille cartouches, and eight-sided bases, painted in classic Delft blue colors with intricate floral motifs. De Porceleyne Fles, one of the oldest and most prestigious Dutch Delftware manufacturers, adopted the Louis XV style in the late 19th century to meet the growing demand for ornamental pieces in this style.

These vases are a beautiful example of the fusion of two traditional art forms —Delftware and the Louis XV style—a valuable piece of history.

We’ve paired the vase bases with custom contemporary oval lampshades in Liberty of London’s limited edition Marquess Garden, Chesham sateen fabric in Lapis.

Marquess Garden is inspired by an intricate floral shawl design from the Liberty archive, dating from 1977 in a heavily patterned Arts and Crafts revival style. It is expertly printed in Italy onto their Chesham sateen. The crisp blues and whites of the fabric are inspired by the fashionable Dutch Delft and Persian porcelain of the late 19th century.
