EO

Copenhagen, Denmark

Nicole and Tor Vitner Servé founded Danish contemporary design brand EO—which stands for Elements Optimal—in Copenhagen in 2013. Tor Vitner Servé, currently serving as the company’s director, was educated as a furniture specialist at the Danish Furniture School in Odder, Denmark. Nicole Vitner Servé, who holds the title of Brand Manager at EO, studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts & Architecture in Copenhagen, graduating with a Master in Advanced Architecture. EO creates highly original, timeless pieces in collaboration with designers from around the world, including Marc Venot, Ioanna Vautrin, and Takeshi Sawada. The company ethos centers around quality craftsmanship and the unique character of each piece.

The cohesive EO collection of furniture, rugs, and interior accessories has a rich vein of quirky playfulness running through it. Animal forms, in various degrees of abstraction, are a recurring theme in the collection, with notable pieces including the charmingly surreal Bambi Chair (2011) by Takeshi Sawada for EO and the Elephant Chair (2015) and matching table by Marc Venot for EO; an alluringly minimalist approach to children’s furniture. In 2012, EO collaborated with acclaimed Parisian designer Ionna Vautrin on the Zoo Collection—a series of plush, stylised animal forms available in oversized or teddy-bear sized versions—which was originally created for an exhibition by textiles brand Kvadrat to honor iconic mid-century designer Nanna Ditzel. The Mini Zoo collection was exhibited as part of a permanent toy exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Many of EO's fun, upbeat designs like the Ice Cream Mirror are perfect for both children and fun-loving adults with a penchant for pop.

EO designs are stocked by select retailers around the world. The brand has showcased its work at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Maison et Objet in Paris, and at the Design & Furniture Fair in Stockholm, amongst others. EO's head office continues to be based in Copenhagen.
