Under the artistic direction of longtime knitting maestra Sandra Fatejeva, Lithuania-based SanFates has quickly blossomed into a European leader in knitted design. Child-friendly, durably-made, and available in sixteen different colors, the brand’s handcrafted and accessibly-priced assortment is a wonderland of needlework, featuring 100% polyester rope-knitted baskets, bean bags, carpets, curtains, wall hangings, pendant lamps, mirrors, poufs, tables, and toys.
Self-taught Fatejava hails from a rich heritage of textile artisans and began knitting at the age of five. She founded SanFates as a family-led business in 2014. On the heels of early success, the company moved in 2015 from its provincial birthplace in Alytus to Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city, to accommodate growing production needs. Even with growth, however, SanFates remains a small-batch-production atelier. Every SanFates piece is handmade in 100% polyester rope, which is notable for its durability, hypo-allergenic properties, and ease of cleaning.
