About This Piece

Vintage Design

Designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Gavina in 1966, this original Bastiano three-seater sofa is an icon of Mid-Century Modern Italian design. The piece features a solid walnut frame with clean, architectural lines and newly restored cushions upholstered in luxurious off-white Italian bouclé. The contrast between the warm walnut wood and the textured bouclé highlights the timeless balance of structure and comfort that defines the Scarpas’ work.

The sofa has been carefully restored by Italian artisans: the cushions have been completely re-padded and reupholstered while preserving the integrity of the original frame. In excellent vintage condition, this piece embodies the refined craftsmanship and understated elegance that made Gavina one of Italy’s most influential design manufacturers of the 1960s.
