Vintage Design

This beautiful modern executive armchair was made by Erik Kirkegaard for Høng Stolefabrik in Denmark around 1960 and is a rare piece of Danish Design. The chair has solid teak arms and it reclines back and forward plus up and down. The green original fabric is in great condition and it's based on a chrome base on casters.

Not much biographical information is available on the Danish designer Erik Kirkegaard, but he designed in the modernist Scandinavian style that became famous all over the world during the 1950s and ‘60s. Although Kirkegaard also designed for Glostrup Møbelfabrik most of his designs were produced by the chair manufacturer Høng Stolefabrik. Høng Stolefabrik was founded in 1911 by the two brothers Christensen who decided to place the factory in Høng due to its location close to the railway. The factory went bankrupt in 1921 and was taken over by Poul & Alfred Blomhøj together with Jens Peter Rasmussen. In 1947 the factory burned to the ground and a new one was built on Møllegårdsvej in 1950 in Høng. The factory closed completely in 1997 after some rough years
