About This Piece

Vintage Design

This piece belongs to the exclusive collections of Carlo Colizza, a master glassmaker acclaimed for his large-format creations and his signature inlay technique. The vase, blown from dark glass (often smoky gray or black), features a series of medallions or "pills" applied while hot.

What defines the value of this model is the treatment of the appliqués: glass spheres incorporating gold leaf or metallic pigments to achieve an iridescent finish and a rough texture that contrasts with the smooth, glossy surface of the vase body. It is a work that fuses the artisanal tradition of Murano's kilns with a bold, contemporary sculptural vision.
