Stellar diamond faceted sommerso bowl by Alessandro Mandruzzato (Murano), Italy, 1970s. Extremely decorative. Can be used as a bowl, catch-all/vide-poche, ashtray or just as a decorative object on any table. Colours: blue, yellow and clear. Width: 10.5 cm / 4.1''; depth: 9 cm / 3.5''; height: 5.5 cm / 2.2''. Excellent vintage condition.

"Sommerso" (Italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
